Our Programme

“Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn”
- O. Fred Donaldson

“The more our children are treated with deep care, the more they treat others with care and kindness. Love, care and Kindness; this is Spirituality in practice.”
- Kimberley Crisp

“Here at Nurturing Hearts we value the importance of PLAY. Therefore, we have a play based curriculum which is supported with the use of loose parts (open ended resources). Loose parts allow for free choice and the opportunity for higher learning as the children engage in meaningful imaginary play. It is in this play where children try out the skills required for “real life”. They gain the ability to take risks and succeed, they have the opportunity to work with and alongside others; whilst being surrounded in an environment that is committed to a culture of love and kindness.

Rituals provide the opportunity to experience a sense of magic, awe and delight. Our special events always follow a ritual that is reserved only for these events. We have a Welcome Ritual, Birthday Ritual, Graduation ritual, Farewell Ritual. Each type of celebration follows its celebration formal, and all involve; a display with a candle, flowers, something special to the person celebrating, a gong to ring. All involve signing the name of the special person, singing their favourite song, talking about the meaning of the celebration.

Here at Nurturing Hearts we value the importance of rhythms and rituals to support a predictable, calm, peaceful environment. We know that for Pepe, Teina & Tuakana familiar and expected routines provide security and predictability. We use rituals to fill special events and celebrations with care and love and create anniversaries of the Heart.

Adults teach children in three ways: the first is by example, the second is by example, the third is by example.”
